Solution

Each cabin of Wenhu Line trains is installed with a TPS-3082GT-M12-BP1 Ethernet switch connecting to 4 cameras and entertainment systems to enhance travel safety for both passengers and the cabin crew. The switch has 8 of IEEE 802.3af PoE Fast Ethernet ports with M12 interface connectors, each providing a maximum of 15.4 watts of power at 48vDC. The PSE ports can inject power to powered devices (PDs) that work compatibly with IEEE 802.3af such as surveillance devices, wireless AP as well as IP phones. Therefore, there is no need to install additional power cables.

Not only the installation cost is lower, it also simplifies installation and saves in-vehicle space. With the proprietary O-Ring redundancy technology, the TPS-3082GT-M12-BP1 can minimize the recovery time to less than 10ms. The switch is also equipped with a set of Gigabit Bypass Gigabit ports which will transmit data to the next active switch when an inline device breaks down to ensure uninterrupted network connections.

To connect on-board serial devices to the IP network, ORing's TDS-5041-I-M12 device servers have been installed to convert the serial signals to digital. With the device servers, the client can integrate legacy devices with new technologies easily without needing to replace the entire structure.
