Solution

The water plant conducted a four-phase construction project, using ORing’s industrial Ethernet switches to connect PLC systems to the Ethernet, allowing the control center to monitor the plant remotely while controlling the PLC systems. To ensure real-time data transmission, ORing built a Ring topology using its proprietary O-Ring technology to provide self-healing capabilities of less than 30ms in a network consisting of 250 nodes. The fast recovery speed ensures uninterrupted data transmission during network outage or failure.

In the first three phases, a total of 12 IES-3082GP industrial Ethernet switches were deployed to forma ring network which connects to the PLCs on the edge end. In the fourth phase, another 11 IES-3082GP industrial Ethernet switches were installed to form a second ring network. The two ring networks were connected through two IGS-9812GP switches via the coupling method. IES-3082GP and IGS-9812GP both provide two Gigabit ports to enable long-distance transmission with single-mode optical fibers. The Gigabit-grade ring networks offer not only excellent data efficiency but also future-proof transmission capabilities.
