Project Introduction

Location: Dubai,UAE

Project Name: Dubai's District Colling Company Builds Fiber Network with ORing's Industrial Switches

Products Deployed: IBS-102FX

Project Requirement

  • Optical fiber network
  • Network redundancy
  • Resistance to high heat

Solution

Specially designed units known as ETS (Energy Transfer Station) are installed in each building served by district cooling to transfer the chilled & used water. As these ETSs must be controlled and monitored by the Command Control Center in the company's headquarter, the customer used ORing's IBS-102FX to deploy a optical fiber network for long-haul and reliable data transmission.

Redundancy is a major concern for this company as any network breakdown will cause substantial consequences. Therefore, the 185 switches have been deployed in a ring topology to resist any single point failures (cable broken or connector unplugged) and continue to operate as usual.

In addition, the switches come with bypass function to ensure uninterrupted data transmission during power or network failures, giving the customer more peace of mind customer.

When power supply fails, the switch will change to the bypass mode immediately and isolate the main network from local networking devices, keeping the network safe from the failure.Furthermore, the switches are equipped with dual power supplies for continual monitoring. If one fails, the other power supply will be activated immediately to keep the switch running.

With the IBS-102FX, the customer can transmit data such as real-time and historic power consumption, cooling energy production and equipment status from the field sites to the control center in real time. Data is then analyzed to provide insight into operations, helping the customer improve overall plant performance and reliability rapidly.
