Project Requirement

Solution

A large number of cameras have been deployed along the 96.6km-long pipeline to monitor the pipeline and its surroundings in real time, so the staff can get hold of the operation of the pipeline while performing inspection immediately when anything goes wrong. Due to the need for long-haul transmission, ORing has provided a network communications solution featuring a media converter and industrial switch.

Each camera is connected to the IGMC-111GPB, an industrial Gigabit Ethernet to fiber media converter. The IGMC-111GPB can be used in pair to support reliable and stable 100/1000BaseT(X) to 100/1000Base-X conversion while extending data transmission distances. One of the IGMC-111GPB is connected to the RGS-7244GP Gigabit rack-mount switch near the pumping plant to transmit data from different cameras to the Internet. The Ethernet network employs a star topology where the RGS-7244GP is at the central point to simply network management and maintenance.

The topology also ensures higher network security because it can prevent single-point failure from affecting the entire network. ORing's switch and media converter are industrial grade products. With an operating temperature range from -40~70℃, the devices can perfectly cope with the harsh winter in Chungli County.

The Fast Ethernet and Gigabit ports provide excellent scalability for network bandwidth. In addition, a long MTBF and a five-year warranty make these devices the best choice for such industrial applications. ORing also provides Open-Vision to help the staff manage the devices and network easily. The management software supports 500 IPs and can discover network topology dynamically. With the ability to analyze network traffic and monitor device conditions, the staff can keep track of the devices.
